Quick Tips and Tricks
One way to make your flower coloring pages stand out is by adding water drops. Adding a few here and there to the petals can bring a touch of realism to your rendering.
If you think creating a water drop is hard, well, get ready to be proven wrong. If you have five minutes and the patience of a toddler, you’ll do just fine.
Below are the step-by-step instructions for how to draw water drops in Procreate.

For this exercise, you’ll need four colors plus white. You don’t have to match the hues used in the tutorial, but keep the tones similar.
- Start with your second lightest color (not white) and use the monoline pen to draw an oval.
- Fill the oval.
- Switch to your lightest color (again, not white). Turn on Alpha Lock on the layer. Using the soft airbrush, draw a sweeping highlight from top right to bottom left. Think of the motion you make when drawing a smile.
- Now change to your second darkest color. Starting from the top right again, add shadows using the soft airbrush. This time, you’ll want your lines to curve in the direction of a frown.
- Choose your darkest color. On a new layer under the oval, draw a smile shape using the monoline pen. Close the shape, fill it, and apply a gaussian blur.
- Using white, add a highlight.
Now you’ve got shiny, realistic water drops to add to your floral artwork!
